The Festival of Spring is an annual event at Rock Springs Conservation Area co-sponsored by Decatur Audubon Society and Macon County Conservation District. Many indoor and outdoor exhibits and events are held to welcome the season of Spring.

Join the Macon County Conservation District every spring as they celebrate Earth Day with all kinds of family fun activities. Enjoy wagon rides, live wild tropical animal shows, astronomy programs, our popular fishing derby, and more! Rain or shine, we celebrate at Rock Springs Nature Center and Conservation Area. This is also Sangamon River Valley clean up day. Groups and individuals are asked to register for the clean up by calling 217-423-7708. Co-sponsored by the Decatur Audubon Society.

In celebration of Earth Day there are numerous activities for children of all ages including wagon rides, a live wild bird show, a canoe rodeo, magicians, storytellers, and indoor/outdoor exhibits featuring the Big Tree Program, Master Naturalists, Green Tips, and much more. Entry to the festival is free with individual events such as the canoe rodeo and face painting only costing $2.

“Earth Day gives people across the country a chance to step back and appreciate the world around them.” Jeff Tish said. “That is what is so exciting about our Festival of Spring.

Families throughout the area have the opportunity to take time out of their busy schedules to spend time outside and experience nature with unique, hands-on activities that are fun and affordable for all ages and interests.”
