Summer Camps for Kids at Macon County Conservation District

2014 Summer Camps

Did you know: children currently spend half as much time outdoors as they did 20 years ago? However, according to the Children & Nature Network, research shows that children who play outside are more physically active, more creative in their play, less aggressive, and exhibit better concentration.

Our camps provide the perfect setting for positive, fun, and well supervised opportunities for children to interact with nature. The Macon County Conservation District’s camps are experienced based. Campers do not just hear about the outdoors, they go out and participate in exploring our planet. They are likely to wet their feet wading in a creek, touch a frog, discover birds with binoculars, or land their first fish.

The Macon County Conservation District has offered memorable camp experiences for the youth of Macon County for over 25 years. Our experienced staff provide a safe, caring atmosphere with age appropriate activities for families and children of all ages.

Registration for summer nature camps begins April 1, 2014.

The Conservation District offers summer camp volunteer opportunities for both adults and teens, ages 13-17. For more information, visit our Volunteer Page. The Conservation District screens all applicants before acceptance and volunteers must attend training prior to camps.
